On Site Spiral Pipe Manufacture for Major Projects - examples

SINGAPORE MARINA COASTAL EXPRESSWAY (2009/2010)

In 2009 we established a new Byard 4000API Mill in Batam Indonesia to manufacture over 50,000MT of 48"/54" and 60" 14mm-19mm piles with CT interlocs in project specific lengths of upto 35m for the Marina Coastal Expressway in Singapore for Samsung and Ssangyong construction companies.

This project was completed ahead of shedule in just 9 months with our Partners DSAW who used the Byard 2000T machine which we supplied in 1999.  These piles were used to construct a wall for a new expressway with a length of over 100km of pipe supplied during the contract.

By establishing a mill very close to the job site the client was able to specify exact lengths of piles required with very short notice based on the actual ground conditions. In doing so we provided a very efficient and cost effective project specific service which reduced shipping costs and maximised material efficiency.

Second River Crossing Tejo River Lisbon Portugal

In this project we shipped one of our Scottish operation's Byard 2000T Mills in 1996 to Lisnave shipyard in Lisbon where we set up the mill and plant to manufacture over 36,000MT of 1,7000mm diameter 22mm thick single length 72m-84m long piles (plus pile shoes and other fabrications) which were the for this major 16km long bridge. Our Project team included our key operations team from Scotland and Portuguese welding and fabrications people from Lisnave.

These piles at upto 84m long and almost 80MT in weight were manufactured in one length using steel plates (25m x 2m) supplied by Dillinger of Germany. We had to manufacture 100m long strings and form and weld them into the finished length.

This we believe even to this day is the longest heaviest spiral pipes ever made and given this was 15 years ago was a real triumph for our project team and our client Campenion Bernard Trafalgar House whom we worked so closely with. See the Video
